The Bandwagon Stops Here…….
Since the NBA Finals have finally started and we can say goodbye to another trash season of ‘professional basketball,’ I feel the need to address something. Let’s go ahead and talk about it. Let me get this off my chest and speak on this since my inbox was flooding with questions about why I’m hating on Steph Curry/Golden State and struggling to explain why I should be a fan aka jump on the bandwagon. First of all…She doesn’t do bandwagon’s. I mean for three days straight I was being bothered about something I REALLY, truly and honestly don’t care about. I despise defending any decisions I make, how I feel about something or simply trying to make my opinion valid just for someone else’s liking. However, some people just won’t stop. Since it appears some people are on a team’s payroll as a recruiter in their bandwagon department, there’s really no need to recruit me. Seriously…I’m good. Besides you will be employed by another team in a couple of years anyway. What I’m really trying to say is…stay the hell out of my inbox. In saying all of that…let’s just go ahead and get into it.
I feel that there’s a difference between liking a team and/or player then there is jumping on the bandwagon of a team and/or player. There’s no problem with liking to watch a team and/or player because you are actually entertained as a fan of good basketball. You may also like seeing the underdog come out on top or whatever. I mean it is what it is, but when you start going hard for a team, flooding my timelines talking shit, getting in your feelings, buying a whole new wardrobe every 2-3 years until that team falls off (I’ll get into that in a minute) because I’m just saying…I haven’t seen team Heat on my timeline, I don’t see any Heat jersey’s, t-shirts and hats being rocked and haven’t for the past 2 seasons like they were the previous 5 before. Well…am I wrong? That’s why those of us that are faithful to our teams get so irritated and feel the need to go in when we see these new ‘fans’ go hard for a team that they know absolutely nothing about. All you know is they are winning and most likely expected to win. And let me address this while we’re at it too…just because you aren’t a fan of someone or a particular team doesn’t mean you’re hating. You’re simply just not a fan…and that’s perfectly fine. When we know you’re riding shotgun on the bandwagon train and you’re seen talking shit and caping hard for them…I just want you to know that everything that player and team do will irritate my soul. That’s just the way it is.
I will speak for myself as I always do, but for ME…I personally don’t get the hype of the Warriors and there it is. I SAID WHAT I SAID! It also irritates my soul how so many grown ass people have to be a part of the winning team. It’s cool to support and enjoy watching them but you are not a Warriors fan…you are on the bandwagon my dear. You are only there for the success. If and when they start losing (because eventually someone will want to leave for more money or to become the star of their own team…and it will happen) you won’t be rooting for them then. Same shit happened with Miami; just look at them. Refer back to last paragraph and ask yourself again…where’s my Miami Heat gear. I’ve heard absolutely NO ONE talking about them the last two seasons yet everyone was a Heat fan. For me personally…I would NEVER be a Heat fan. Real basketball fans know the history of the Knicks and Heat. If you know…you get it. It doesn’t matter who plays for them. In saying that, I can see why people jumping on the Heat bandwagon before Golden State (even though it discussed me and I didn’t get it) I could lightweight understand why. People were actually familiar with the “Big 3” of Lebron, D Wade and Chrissy Pooh Bosh. Steph Curry is another story. He was no one to you and the shade is he’s been in the league for quite some time now. Yes…he’s worked hard to become the type of player he is today and that should be commended. I’m all the way here for that. He’s a beast on the offensive side of the court but where’s his defense? For him to be “so quick” he always guards the slower back court opponent. Not impressive especially for a two-time league MVP. Never mind…this isn’t about his play. Sorry…just coming from someone who’s played basketball pretty much all of her life. It’s okay to hate players like Westbrook, but we have to respect Curry. Why hate Westbrook? He’s a great scorer, an all-star, has a beautiful wife he adores, etc. So what’s the problem? Oh…he doesn’t kiss ass. I get it. Not a champion. Gotcha! Keep it real…you didn’t even know who Klay Thompson and his cocky ass was. Probably thought it was Jon B or something. I get they appear to be the under dogs and an unlikely team to be where they are. But let’s keep it real…anyone can win games by shooting pretty much all 3’s. And not just one player but multiple players. The league has even hyped up this team to the point where you forget who else is in the league. Everything is about them. Now…they played good in game 1 (well their bench really did) of the eastern conference finals…or the Cavs just played like shit. Maybe a little of both. But I digress. Then you have dirty players like Green and Bogut who get away with everything. Livingston and Iguodala’s career’s have been revived and I’m more excited for them than anyone else on the Warriors. Yet…still not impressed. Same reason I’m not a fan of the league today AT ALL. I can’t find one player that I’m excited to watch play. Not even Lebron because he flops and cries so damn much. No hating ever, just how I feel. But I forgot…these days no one is allowed to have their own feelings.
