2017…The year of self-reflection
I sat back and realized that I personally went through a lot this year: physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. As much as I went through this year, I am so thankful because in the end I came out a much better person on every level. The end of the year is a time of self-reflection while thoughts and visions go into the year about to come. I feel that if you haven’t started, please take some time to do some self-reflection. Whether good or bad; nothing is wrong with looking back. If you feel there’s room for improvement in your life, now is the time to set it in motion. Many people do believe that the new year is a time to start over. We may joke around about New Year’s resolutions and “New Year, New Me,” but in reality many feel that the new year is a great time to start over. Regardless if you stick with the changes you was to make or not, the most importantly thing is that you looked into it and attempted to do something else. I can tell just by social media alone that there are so many are unhappy and unfulfilled. I myself am one of them, so yes I’m taking my own advice. No one is perfect so please quit fronting like your life is perfect for everyone else. People can see right through it. We’re all going through a difficult and challenging time in this country regardless if you think it personally effects you or not; trust me…it does. That’s stressful enough even if you aren’t too invested in it. People are thinking about it one way or another. Other than the shenanigans going on in this f’d up country; we have jobs, families, health, money…the list goes on. My advice to you is; if you want to get your finances together; research sources to help you see which one is best for you. If you want to fix something within yourself like your health or a new job…start taking the steps to making it happen. You have to start somewhere. I feel that I can give advice on these things because I’ve been there. MANY YEARS at a job I hated; I finally researched and strictly focused on where I wanted to work. I found out by asking around and reading up on what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong during the application process and fixed it. Guess what…I’m going on my third year in a career that I’ve wanted to work in since I graduated high school. It takes time, but it happens. Health bills over the years put a strain on my finances and I took the necessary steps to get that together as well. My biggest hurdle this year (involving my health journey) will be discussed in a series of posts to follow. Even though, I’ve been dealing with these health issues for years, but I was determined not to go into another year in pain and sick. My health journey basically took up the entire year of 2017 with numerous appointments, tests, procedures and the actual surgery; but as I mentioned above…at the end of the day…it was ALL WORTH IT!
As I self-reflect on the year 2017 and for everything that happened both the good and the bad for my family, friends and myself; I can honestly say that I’m better for it. Many around me are better for it. I have gained a full understanding of who I am, what I want to accomplish, where I need to be mentally and physically; what I will and won’t accept; among so many other discoveries found within the year. I learned more about self-love and self-acceptance. Spiritually and religiously I am on a different journey as well. Very different from those who know me. For example…I discovered Islam trough…self-reflection. Let’s keep moving forward and make 2018 a great year. Make 2018 one of the best year’s of our life! Happy New Year!
